Yes, it's interesting! With the caveat that I have no evidence for this at all, just vibes, I'm inclined to think it has partly to do with marriage/divorce not being religious institutions compared to the West; you got married for practical reasons, and if they didn't apply any more you might break up the marriage (although, as always, it was harder on the woman, sigh).
