Likewise--yet another thing I don't know enough about! (I went to grad school with a guy who is now a priest at his family's temple out in Ishikawa; I suppose he'd be the one to ask.) I don't know to what extent the strictness of Etsuko's childhood household was religious and to what extent it drew on samurai/bushido practices etc., although presumably the two aren't entirely separate.
